2VF Demonstration
This recording is taken from a vintage 78 r.p.m. record. It is a simulation of the tone and voice transactions taking place during a telephone call. First a request is made to an operator who then forwards the call by dialling over a 2VF signalling system. A man answers and then clears down (this is possibly the most dramatic segment of the recording... you can't fail to be moved). The tones you hear are the signals being sent between the two exchanges and would not normally have been heard by a subscriber. I have now added the 'full' version of the record, although sadly the first few seconds were unplayable so have been missed.
