Tokuo Iwaisako is a professor at the Institute for Economic Research (IER) at Hitotsubashi University. His primary research areas are finance and empirical macroeconomics. He teaches financial economics at Hitotsubashi's Faculty of Economics and Business School. His recent publications include Japan’s Financial System: New Perspectives and Potential Risks in the Post-Global Financial Crisis Era (Springer, 2025), which he edited and authored.
Iwaisako previously served as president of the Nippon Finance Association in fiscal years 2018 and 2019 and as principal economist at the Ministry of Finance's Institute of Policy Research in fiscal years 2009 and 2010. Iwaisako graduated from Hitotsubashi University's Faculty of Economics in 1990 and received his Ph.D. in Economics from Harvard University in 1997.
