Although Lomar is technically a different realm than the Hill Country, the reality is that it's nestled in a far northern fringe on the coast of the Darkling Sea facing Chersky Isle, and sandwiched between the lake, the Plateau of Leng, the Wolf Wood, and the fairly empty Golden Wold. There is a route, although not a maintained road, that leads up north along a hilly ridge that creates a miles-wide gap in the Wolf Wood that is only lightly forested, from which the graymen, or Hyperboreans of Zobna came to Lomar, and there is a road that goes north and west, making a wide berth around Leng before reaching trading destinations like Bucknerfeld and Volek Szemennok. But the Lomarians are forced by geographic reality to interact most with the Hill Country, and their sailing ships leave berths in Lomar to go to Garenport especially, but also Cayminster, Burham's Landing, and more. After some initial rivalry, the Northumbrians and the Lomarians seem to have agreed to share the Darkling Sea more or less peacefully, and graymen traders can be seen in almost all of the Hill Country port cities, as well as ambassadors and wagon train or caravan operators even in more inland cities and towns, especially Barrowmere. The Lomarians have picked up a lot of culture from their Hillmen neighbors, and now behave and dress very differently than their Zobnan ancestors. However, a mass migration from another failed Hyperborean city-state has also joined Lomar about fifty years ago. These people come from Nyx, and culturally they had always been quite distinct from the Zobnans, and even more-so than the Lomarians. This leads to an ongoing culture clash; the Zobnans, influenced by the Hillmen, and the Nyxans, who have a very different way of life.
