Toni Amanda Stefano
Lyric Soprano
A native of Ohio, Ms. Stefano made her operatic debut as Papagena, in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte. She has also appeared as Anne Truelove, The Rake’s Progress, Countess Maria Luisa, With Blood, With Ink, the world premiere as Julia Herriton in Where Angels Fear to Tread, Louise Mallard, The Joy That Kills, Despina, in Mozart’s Cosi Fan Tutte, Lucy in Menotti’s The Telephone, and Lauretta in Puccini’s Gianni Schicci, as well as in excerpts from Bizet’s The Pearl Fishers, and Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro.
In concert, Ms. Stefano has sung the soprano solos in Schubert’s Mass in G, Schubert’s Salve Regina, D676, Purcell’s Te Deum, and Benjamin Britten’s cantata Rejoice in the Lamb. She has also performed in Cleveland’s Blossom Festival Chorus under the direction of Robert Page, Yoel Levi, and Leonard Slatkin. Ms. Stefano appeared as a Scholarship Singer in several performances with the Mendelssohn Club of Philadelphia under the direction of Alan Harler.
In addition to her operatic experience, Ms. Stefano has starred in productions of Oklahoma! where she appeared as Ado Annie, The Music Man as Marian Paroo, and West Side Story as Maria.
Ms. Stefano holds a Master’s Degree in Voice with an Certificate in Opera at the Peabody Conservatory of Music in Baltimore, Maryland and a Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance from the University of Akron. She currently studies with Ruth Drucker and has studied with Stanley Cornett, Marianna Busching, Ms. Tana Alexander and Dr. Christine Anderson. She has worked in master classes with opera singers Barbara Dever, Gary Kendall, Phyllis Curtin and Irena Mishura.
Ms. Stefano’s awards include: Rosario and Kahn Memorial Award and the Todd Duncan Memorial Award from The Annapolis Vocal Competition; All- American Scholar, George Castelle Memorial Award, Opera Outreach Assistantship, and Scholarship in Opera from the Peabody Conservatory of Music; a Fellowship from the Mendelssohn Club of Philadelphia; Second Place in the Ohio NATS Competition; University of Akron, Carolyn Frye Ryan and Talafierro Opera Scholarships.
Ms. Stefano is a private voice teacher at McDonogh School and is president of Till The Fat Lady Sings, LLC. She lives in Reisterstown, Maryland with her husband Matthew and son Alexander.
