Love Your Neighbors

The Love Your Neighbors Project - A celebration of songs from the neighboring countries to the USA and other immigrant songs along with some songs composed by us Yankees.

The Square Dance Heroes are in the process of recording and releasing music that is part of a "Love Your Neighbors" project.  

We hope we aren't being too political here because all political parties have some good ideas and some bad ideas.  However, loving your neighbors is something we hope folks from all political parties and all countries try to achieve!  

Here is the music we have released to date for the "Love Your Neighbors" project - each release has several versions of the song and / or several different songs - we hope you enjoy!

The Mexican Hat Dance - The national dance of our neighbor to the South performed by the Square Dance Heroes and dedicated to our Mexican friends, family and neighbors!

The Hills and Mountains of Canada - Themes and variations on original melodies and Celtic jigs inspired by Canada and dedicated to Canadian friends, family and neighbors! 

La Bamba - A traditional Mexican song and dance performed by the Square Dance Heroes and dedicated to our Mexican friends and neighbors.  La Bamba is a Mexican folk song, originally from the state of Veracruz.  It became popular in the US with a 1958 adaptation by Ritchie Valens and has remained popular often being performed by mariachi musicians.   The song was reintroduced to the US radio and movie audiences when the Los Lobos version was used in the 1987 film La Bamba and became a #1 song on the Billboard charts.    We hope you enjoy the Square Dance Heroes version of La Bamba which is performed at a faster tempo that is great for Square Dancing or Salsa Dancing!

Go Down Moses - Let My People Go!  - With important religious events occurring (or just occurred or are about to occur) for friends and neighbors of the Christian, Jewish, Islam, and Buddhist faiths - we thought this was an excellent song to add to our Love Your Neighbors series of releases.  We have includes several different versions of the song including: traditional, square dance, jazzy flute, instrumental square dance, and instrumental traditional - hope you enjoy!

Will The Circle Be Unbroken?  I Am Bound for the Promised Land! - New album that includes some songs that had been previously released  as part of a Sonya and Dave project but were taken down by another distributor.  Now released along with new tracks through a different distributor.  The Bound for the Promised Land song fits the immigrant theme of the Love Your Neighbors project and is released for the Passover / Ramadan / Lent / Good Friday / Easter season.  There is even a version of "Will the Circle Be Unbroken" done with an original Good Friday lyric by Buffalo Dave!
