🔹Mahx Cvvnt Notes on #1 Hidden in Rambam's explanation that the first commandment is to know that there exists God is the mystery of the Good News of Israel and Her Messiah itself. For first of all, the question of how one is to know that there exists God is concealed in the statement that one is commanded to know that there exists God.

The answer to the question of how one is to know that there exists God is also concealed in Rambam's explanation that one is commanded to know there exists God. Once again, Rambam says that this first of the ten commandments, which states in its complete form, "I am the LORD thy God, who brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage," is simply the commandment to know that there exists God. But it would seem that this explanation could be given if the declaration were only, "I am the LORD thy God." In fact, the declaration, which is given as an imperative of faith, includes the qualifying words, "...who brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage." In other words, to believe there exists God, with the faith commanded by God, means to believe there exists the Redeemer of Israel out of Egypt.
