The momentum for the 777 event was fast and furious and like a speeding bullet it not only mowed down all in its path, but ended up smashed into a wall.
Lies and Deception
Carlton Homewood had first secured for himself a place in the leadership of "Wings of Hope" ministry (a sim I knew very little about) owned by "Maggie Barkley" (SL name) and ingratiated himself with several more church sims - the ALM Cyberchurch for one, and also churches pastored by Rick Liveoak and Sixgin Ayers. Carlton was invited to preach at the Wings of Hope sim, but things didn't add up. As Maggie later said:
"I had him on my magazine staff and as a Pastor on a church on my sim." But when she checked out his claims to be a real-life minister, she ran into a brick wall. Nobody knew where his church was, and the mobile phone number he gave as a line to his pastor was answered only by an anonymous person calling himself "bishop". Several people, including myself, were engaged in an intensive search to locate his church. Those who lived in the area travelled to its supposed location and found it was not there. Maggie continued "He told us his pastor and Rick Liveoak knew one another, but that was a lie. They do not."
Other lies were coming to light. Despite claiming to have been a pastor "for 17 years", the family members and friends Carlton invited to his Secondlife innaugural sermon were told "this is the first time you get to hear me preach".
Everything was happening at the same time, making it hard to report events in order.
Calliope Betrayed
Almost at once, Calliope Simon was "on the case", and privately confided to me that she was "making friends" with Carlton and joining his movement in order to find out what they were planning. What she discovered was "everything that Carlton has said, claimed, all of it, is lies, every last thing - he's not a pastor, his church doesn't exist..."
Unfortunately, the strategy misfired on her, with drastic results.
Not understanding the full power of spiritual deception, Callie let herself be drawn into an emotional "love-in" where Carlton told of his childhood problems and in response Callie exposed her own hurts due to (amongst other things) rapes - this kind of openness was unheard of for Callie and afterwards she realised she'd been duped into these confessions.
"Carlton is trying to tear down what God has built, and what is worse, he's a con artist, a fake, whatever you want to call him...how could a Pastor tell a woman she LIED about being raped, and then laugh in her face about it? I would have slapped anyone who did that to me..."
HOWEVER, this early mistrust of Carlton was eroded and overturned in later days as the spiritual battle for minds and hearts continued. If Ben and Mari had been older and wiser, and acted like the Pastors they claim to be, they would have banned Carlton outright - instead they ended up standing by Calironia Condor, and banning Callie and myself instead!
Two More Wounded Soldiers
I have mentioned "Pastor Bamaisin" as an occasional visitor on Truth and one of our friends. Suddenly hurtful gossip was circulating about him being in sexual sin! It was traced back of course to Carlton and his "prophet" Darrien Lightworker. Pastor BamBam was depressed and down, and we could do little to help him.
Then another notecard started circulating. This time it was about Maggie Barkley, the owner of a Christian sim and dance club (The Powerhouse) who had at first given the platform to Carlton and a home on her sim.
But pretty soon events took a downward turn there, Maggie woke up to Carlton and called him out as a fraud, and suffered the consequences. A notecard was circulated about her, containing a supposed "prophecy" condemning her - see attachment - and judgement was pronounced upon her. The man following Carlton around like a puppydog issuing judgemental "prophecies" for the Great One was Darrien Lightworker (SL name) and he also had issued the one about Pastor Bamasian.
Maggie later told me that she had the last laugh on Darrien as "God told him she had been raped by her own father" but Maggie's father died when she was a baby.
This had now gone beyond a simple Second Life disagreement or clash of beliefs. It was evil parading as Christiaity, an evil presence that rejoiced in threats and lies. Then central figure i all this was steadily amassing followers, wealth and property on SL that would have given him influence over many more. CARLTON HAD TO BE STOPPED.
I Write My Notecard Denouncing 777
Speaking personally, I had been searching online to find out all I could about the event's leadership and aims. What I found was disturbing. (See my findings here) So I composed a notecard - also to be seen on the page linked here - exposing the 777 event as a heretical shambles unworthy of support, and I circulated it to a few Christian sims that I knew about.
As a result, some churches took down their 777 posters and backed away from officially supporting the event. Of course, Carlton and his team went ballistic! But even I was unprepared for the depth of their hatred and revenge.
Thereafter Carlton had a hold over Callie. He stalked her all over Second Life, standing over her, repeatedly telling her that he would "get her" and that she was helpless and "God told me we will end up together" and he and his followers would engage in their tactic of standing around her, jostling and pushing, trapping her between them, and all shouting and "praying" together at her until it became unbearable. She said "he threatened me, telling me he would love me forever and he would find me, and at the end he said there was nothing I could do, that he'd been given banning rights on the Truth sim by California Condor after just one meeting --- he was acting just like all the other abusers did to me before, he purposely hurt me..." she had to go offline then, feeling physically sick. But WORSE WAS TO COME.
When Callie wouldn't respond to this kind of manipulation, Carlton used what he knew against her. A meeting took place in one of the inner ministry rooms of the ALM church building attended by Carlton supporters like California Condor and with Ben and Mari Psaltery, and from what little we learned later, we know that Carlton betrayed Callie's trust and privacy, mocked her and told them the rape story was a lie. When I spoke to Mariposa later, she at least seems unimpressed. She said:
It then came to our attention that Sixgin Ayers, Senior Pastor of "Church of the Living God" on Secondlife was circulating a notecard denouncing Carlton and exposing his lies. (See attachment)In it he spoke of Carlton's "insane messages" and "intense attitudes beaming people into submission". He exposed the lies about Carlton's background and ministry and pinned the blame "solely on Carlton" for the attack on the Club.It was good to have support at last. But it was far from over. The next day Carlton, California and others decided to strike back first by threats and intimidation and then by spreading gossip and false rumours about Callie, my husband and I. As a result of these lies we were eventually banned from the entire Truth sim by California Condor, in spite and revenge for what had taken place.
I get "Love-Bombed" on Truth
The day of 12th June 2007 turned out to be a long, strange and very full day for those of us opposing Carlton and his team.
Hearing about the technique used on Calliope, I decided to go to Truth - where Carlton and his team members now congregated after being exposed on the Wings of Hope sim - but to pose as an unsuspecting non-believer, to see if they would pounce on me.
Immediately on turning up in an unknown avatar, I was indeed surrounded by the Carlton posse and they began to exert the same pressure and spiritual menacing on me as they had done to others. The financial backer for the group Thomas Rosmer was there along with Jabez Congejo, Professor Wise, Res Sands (a probable alternative avatar for California Condor or Carlton himself) and Anya Heberle looking on and making insulting references to my weakness.
I played the outraged unbeliever for a time, and my husband and Calliope both turned up to defend me - but then something happened that caught me by surprise.
Wings of Hope Griefed
Res Sands urgently insisted I go with him to the Wings of Hope Powerhouse Club which he said had been "perverted". He was speaking as someone concerned at the links between WOH and the 777 campaign, but it was obviously a ruse to get me there as an observer, and in particular to pin the blame on Calliope for the attack that I was to witness.
When I arrived at the Club, I was shocked and horrified. It had been "griefed" with lewd sexual objects and images such as Jesus in homosexual poses and abortion. I could hardly believe my eyes, but I quickly took some screenshots, and checked the names behind the objects to see if they belonged to anyone that I knew. (Owner was "shoopdawhoop" - a false tag.)
One of the images is above, but for more (caution advised) see the attachments. Warning: images of a sexual nature and offensive to Christians and gays.
While I looked round in mounting disgust, Res Sands was telling me that Calliope hated Christians and had hacked into his home computer, made his screen go black and accessed all his data (laughably impossible) and that she was the one behind this griefing attack.
As Callie pointed out later "it's not my style" and of course she had no reason, added to which, Callie is gay, so would not attack homosexuals in this way. No, the person with a grievance against Maggie was Carlton Homewood!
Calliope On The Warpath
After I informed Callie that she'd been implicated in the WOH griefing attack, she set out to find out who actually did it. She came back to report that a griefing group that she knew of were admitting that Carlton paid them to do it, although she had to judge more by their silence than their open admission. Nevertheless, both she and others believed it was just what Carlton Homewood was capable of!
