The Making of a Piece

The following images will hopefully elucidate the dynamic process involved in the creation of one of my artworks.

After initial consultation, three draft sketches were made and presented to the patron (top row). After the patron identified preferred elements from among the sketches, work on the actual piece commenced (middle and bottom rows). After the under-drawing (fig 4), an ochre ground was applied (fig 5), followed by the inital vinework (fig 6). Next the vignettes were started (fig 7), filled out (fig 8), and the piece was fully finished (fig 9).
