Mr. Ecks from The Man From U.N.C.L.E. Captain Scofield from Riptide
Ah, Christopher Cary. I love British accents and actors and he is my favorite darling of British origin.
As near as I can tell, I first encountered him on The Rockford Files when it aired on MeTV at 10 A.M. my time. We would turn it on and do things around the house, glancing over to watch it when we were in the area. I saw portions of both of Christopher's Rockford episodes that way. I didn't always see the show, even when it was on, so I find it interesting that I caught both of Christopher's episodes. Both times, I thought he was very cute, despite not being certain what to make of either character.
It was several months later, after seeing Christopher on The Wild Wild West, when the seeds were really planted. I started writing a series of stories for fun involving characters from the episodes The Night of the Sudden Plague and The Night of the Poisonous Posey. Snakes Tolliver, Christopher's character from the latter episode, became the central antagonist in the second story. By the third story, I knew I needed to develop his character more so it wouldn't feel like he was going in circles. In the process of developing him and re-watching the episode, I became intrigued by Christopher's portrayal of that betraying snake and hence, Christopher himself. Thus began my quest to find Christopher's other roles.
From there, it really didn't take long for me to add Christopher to my top tier of favorites. I instantly saw Christopher's talent in portraying characters completely different from each other. He really became the characters, just as all good character actors do. And from interviews I found, I liked who he seemed to be as a real person as well as his characters.
I'm very excited to be able to share these vintage interviews with everyone, and even moreso, I'm thrilled that people who knew Christopher were willing to be interviewed by me. I had almost given up on doing this website, but when that happened, I knew I had to give it a go. I needed a proper website to host the interviews and not just a blog.
