The Muslim heritage has been underestimated as foundation of science and scientific principles.

Here I just refer to a few fundamental achievements done by remarable scientists who the western tradition want to forget or deem as "terrorists" these days:

Most of the star names are probably Arabic, and we would certainly have been lost without the Arabic Numerals making calculations easy. Few even know how to add a few Roman numbers, not to talk about subtraction, multiplication or division! Calculus with Roman Numerals is a Science itself.
