This is a work-in-progres. For now, here's a start.

First some video:

Pete's 70th birthday speech

Not exactly family history, but let's not forget the infamous Tang commercial!

Yes, in the early 1970's, Judith Weis, Ph.D Marine Biologist, was enlisted by corporate america to say "we start our day the way the astronauts do" --

i hope to post the entire commercial (in which only Judy speaks but Jen, Eric and Pete are present) but for today these two stills,

the main one with jennifer & judy, will have to suffice.

the commercial is on youtube here

Now on to the real history...

Some Weis/Horn Family History as told by

Great Grandma Agnes Horn Weis on 11/25/2000.

Her parents, Ernest Horn and Clementine (pronounced 'clementeen') Folkman Horn came over circa 1913 with sons Tibor and Emory (then called Imre).

Ernest had a lumber company which went under when the war (WW1) started. So, he actually came to the US 1 year earlier, stayed with an Uncle, and worked ironing in a chinese laundry to save money and bring his wife and sons over.

Clementine's father was named Moritz Folkman, Ernest's dad was named Ignatz Horn.

Ernest was born in Diosgyor. Clementine born in what is now Slovakia, in the Hungarian county of Trencheyn (sp?)

Tibor (Ti) and Emory were born in Nagyvarad (now part of romania) and Agnes was born in Bridgeport, CT.

Their first house on Wardin avenue, in a Hungarian community within Bridgeport.

(Note: Agnes' Great Uncle Bertram had a son named Arthur and a daughter named Myrtle. Ernest's first cousins.

Arthur's daughter Marion (Peskin?) lives in morristown NJ and is in touch with Pete & Judy.)
