Initially referred to as Windows Trust Manager, it was included in Longhorn build 3683, where its functionality was mostly primitive. It simply opened a prompt asking whether or not the user would like to continue upon starting Avalon-based applications, warning the user of the app's safety-risk level. By build 4015, Windows Trust Advisor was introduced. Opening an application where the system cannot determine a publisher causes Trust Advisor to appear, where it will state that the application severely conflicts with Windows Trust Manager settings and warns the user not to continue.
As stated, Trust Advisor has a settings application, though it is not accessible by default. In 2014, Melcher wrote custom code used to trigger the application which was up on his website before being redone. In 2019, it resurfaced on BetaArchive.
n build 4093, the final build made before the reset, it was re-implemented with similar functionality to its earlier iteration.
