This page will explain what you can get paid for while working for The Lions' Pride Media Group. It includes a list of what you can get paid for and how much you are paid for each activity. For a more in-depth guide to how to actually fill out, turn in, and review the time sheets, please look at the video above and the documents below.
List of Activities which you can be paid for:
Submitting completed articles
Can earn an hour for every 100 words written.
For the exact pay scale and to learn that activities, such as interviewing, that are included in the pay for the word count and that can't be paid for separately, look at the documents below.
Can only be paid when it has finished the editing process.
Note: Timeliness is important in news; so, if you can’t meet the due date for article and article is no longer usable, you will not be paid for the article.
Submitting pictures and cutlines
Can earn a half an hour of pay for every six pictures submitted.
If more than twelve pictures, you are paid for the time spent at the event.
Can only be paid for pictures if a cutline accompanies each picture.
If more than twelve pictures, a cutline is not needed for all pictures, only a select few.
Newspaper distribution
Can earn 30 minutes for disturbing to a location.
Farther locations, such as Marmion/Snyder and off-campus locations, earns an hour (see document below).
Can only be paid for disturbing to location(s) you are sign up for on the distribution list.

Attending weekly staff meetings
Can earn time for how long spent at a meeting.
If you are late, you cannot clock the full meeting. If the meeting was between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m., and you arrived at 10:30 a.m., you are only allowed to put in the half hour you were actually there.
Attending workshops
Workshops are infrequently-held meetings, typically held on weekends that act as a huge training and informational session for newcomers to the Paper.
Can earn time for how time spent at workshop.
Meeting with Editors or Mrs. Kasper
Can earn time for how long spent with editor or Dr. Kasper
You can only be paid for newspaper related things, such as getting help with an article.
Additional Tasks
Can earn time for completing additional tasks needed by the newspaper, but you have to be approved and directed by Dr. Kasper or managing editor and have to sign up for the tasks on Sign Up Genius.

What you CAN NOT be paid for:
For being at an event
You can only be paid for the time spent at an event if you take a reasonable amount of pictures and/or videos throughout the event, and a staff photographer isn't already covering said event.
For meeting with an editor for under than 30 minutes
You should confirm with editor how long to record for the meetings as if it under 30 minutes it is doesn’t count for a timesheet.
