RESPECT DIVERSITY: We respect the diversity of the group’s backgrounds, cultures and beliefs. In particular: we avoid advocacy on the listserv (and at meetings) for political causes or other fervently held opinions. We can respect others even when we disagree with them, and we avoid personal attacks or insults.
BUILD COMMUNITY: While we are first and foremost a GARDEN club and postings should primarily be directly garden related, WE ARE ALSO A COMMUNITY.
We use postings to:
COMMUNICATE ABOUT GARDENING: questions, information and sharing experiences without dictating how others garden.
OFFER FREE GOODS: You are welcome to offer FREE goods such as excess produce, plants and anything in good working order, garden related or not. When posting please include your email address and request a personal reply. Do not offer items fo sale or trade.
REQUEST RECOMMENDATIONS: You may also request a recommendation for help around the garden & house, plumber, electrician, roofer etc.
GIVE RECOMMENDATION: Base recommendations on your personal experience. You can post them on the email list and/or request that the information be added to our Web site’s Recommended Services list. And no, you cannot “recommend” your own or your family’s business.
PROMOTE NON-PROFIT GROUPS: If you want to promote a garden related non-profit (in which you have no financial interest) such as the Master Gardeners (Great Tomato sale), Tilden Regional Parks Botanical Garden, etc., feel free to announce their sales or classes at any time.
HOUSING REQUESTS: You may post about housing (offering or seeking) since it is so hard to find. But be brief and request a personal reply only.
