Responsibilities

MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION

Our membership year starts May 1st. Membership includes and is limited to all members of your current household. Each member must read and sign the Membership Application & Liability Waiver. As a nonprofit organization, we are entirely dependent upon membership support, donations, and fundraisers. Please be sure to track your hours, you may qualify for membership discounts.

CODE OF CONDUCT

The goal is to work together respectfully and to create a welcoming organization. We require members to conduct themselves in a courteous and respectful manner. Behaviors that will not be tolerated: Taking more than the allotted amount of food, shoplifting, shopping in an aggressive rude manner, bullying (pushing crowding and/or reaching over another member to retrieve product). The Sort Coordinator will monitor the shops to make sure all members follow the code of conduct.

SHOPPING AT GLEANERS PANTRY

A member of the household may shop any distribution day if you are up to date with all hours and dues. Only 1 person from each family may shop during the shopping period. Additional family members must wait outside the shopping area. Due to safety concerns it is best not to bring children to the shop. Only small children (carried in backpacks/slings) are allowed in the shop area. Older children may wait outside the shopping area (parents are responsible for children at all times). Members should not give food to other people or organizations that are not members. Products from Gleaners should not be sold or bartered.

As you shop remember: When all of us follow the code of conduct and are kind to others, the shopping will be a great experience for all shoppers. When quantities are obviously limited, please don’t take more than your share. Example- Do not take all the good tomatoes or bananas.

If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to ask a sort coordinator, membership director or board member. Your contributions, comments or suggestions are valuable to our membership.
