Membership in the Davis Golf Club
New Members, please click here to read our New Member Welcome Letter, which contains pertinent information to help ensure your enjoyment as a member of the Davis Golf Club.
The Davis Golf Club (DGC) is a golf club open to women and men dedicated to the enjoyment of golf as an individual sport as well as providing access to friendly competitions for our members. DGC welcomes adults 18 and older as well as Juniors, 12 and up. By joining the Davis Golf Club you automatically become a member of the Northern California Golf Association (NCGA). This allows you to build or maintain an official golf handicap, which is required to enter handicapped golf tournaments sponsored by The Davis Golf Club and other USGA-affiliated groups worldwide.
To be fair to all members, DGC must be able to establish a reasonable handicap for each new member for equitable inclusion in DGC competitions. To do so, each new applicant must provide contact information, including phone number and email address (if available) and must also provide the following information if they intend to participate in tournament play:
An existing NCGA member number (GHIN) and scoring Index, if one exists
If not a previous NCGA member and with no “official” handicap, a prospective member must provide information that can be used to create one for competitions. This could include:
At least 5 recent 18 hole score cards from the Davis Golf Course (recommended), or at least five 18 hole score cards from other golf courses
Anecdotal evidence of the golfer’s scoring ability may be considered
DGC runs upwards of 45 golf tournaments each year, with a wide variety of formats to satisfy everyone’s enjoyment. While these are friendly competitions, players can win significant money that is added to their personal accounts with the Pro Shop. Pro Shop accounts can be used to pay for cart rentals or practically any type of golf equipment or apparel that can be afforded by the account. Tournaments are flighted by handicap to allow competition with players of like ability. Our policy is to pay at least 33% of players in each flight, with graduated payouts for first, second, third, etc.
If you would like to join The Davis Golf Club, you can pick up a registration form at the DGC Pro Shop or you can download a form from our website page, “Handicaps and Policy”.
