The below is taken from the 1901 Irish census. The first section shows the house-hold of my 2nd great-grandfather Thomas Crehan and his wife Catherine (Dowd) in the village of Creeverow (Davies) at house number 8. The second shows James Creaghan (Crehan), son of Thomas living with his uncle, John Dowd, in the nearby village of Creeveroe Ffrench at house number 1.
The field shown in the photo above is where Thomas Crehan's house once stood in the village of Creeveroe Davies. However, the barn shown in the photo is a much later construction.
Thomas Crehan's house would have been of a similar construction to the building shown below, which is in fact an old pub in Galway which has survived through the centuries:
