important. Instructor of any Dojo, should always lead by example and earn respect and not demand it. It is the responsibility
of anyone or Parent wishing or wanting their children to learn a Martial Art should seek the Dojo with teachers who have the
qualifications to teach. Must have Instructors Indemnity and Public Liability Insurance cover and have the necessary Insurance
for their Students, and must have basic Emergency Aid training and the paper to prove it.
We at the Budokan Dojo have all the necessary Qualifications in place and have built up a reputation over many years in the area with support from the Police, Royal British Legion, Neighbourhood Watch, MPs and others.
THE KAMiZA
We offer teaching in the Martial Arts for physical and spiritual health, character building and self- defence.
We are not concerned with competitiveness and winning trophies but with creating a safer and more harmonious society.
The Martial Arts are recognised as a way of keeping fit and are suitable for children and adults, both male and female. Confidence and awareness are heightened, muscles are toned, joints become more flexible and the efficiency of body organs is increased. Movements are related to kinetics, the science of motion, using natural, relaxed body movements and focusing on strength of spirit and the body's natural energy, not brute force. This greatly minimises the risk of sports injury and promotes health.

The discipline, determination and self control needed to regularly train promotes a calm and intelligent attitude and any aggression, prejudice or egotism is greatly discouraged.
We are all concerned in today's violent society for the safety of children, who are vulnerable to the dangers that exist as seen through the news every day.
We hope to encourage and teach children to be able to take care of themselves and others with confidence and be aware of danger. Great emphasis is placed on family values and respect and instruction is given in self defence as well as fundamental techniques and traditional forms.
For the serious Martial Artist who wants to continue their studies further, the black belt is regarded by our association as a good beginner on the first step to learning and is only awarded after stringent examination of technique, character, self efence, first aid, anatomy, physiology, psychology and philosophy.
Children
The increasing threats posed to children and young people in today's society cause us all great concern and it seems hardly a day goes by without another horrific story exposed in the media. Violence has become part of everyday life with the victims too often being innocent children. Unfortunately our society has also grown disruptive, undisciplined youngsters who cause misery to young and old alike.
We aim to teach children the moral values too often missing today. The 'catchword' of our children’s section is RESPECT. We place great emphasis on respect for parents, family and friends, teachers, the law, senior citizens, peoples' property and perhaps most importantly for themselves.
We teach the threats caused by modern social issues such as substance abuse, bullying, strangers, unsafe play areas etc. We aim to make our children aware of the dangers that exist today and give them confidence to try and deal with situations if they cannot be avoided.
Perhaps most importantly, the children are taught that fighting is only ever the last resort and that it is better to avoid danger in the first place.
Our classes all composed of different sections, each with their own purpose: Exercises including warm-ups and stretching are performed to improve fitness and maintain flexibility as well as to prepare the body for the training to follow.
Fundamental techniques are taught in the forms of blocks, punches, kicks and strikes, teaching the children how to use their bodies, hands, feet and elbows as natural weapons. Posture and balance are taught along with break-falls, throws and restraint locks. Self defense techniques are explained and practiced and light sparring performed, but with the emphasis placed on working with a partner not competition against them. Learning the many Kata (prearranged forms of movement and techniques) Requires dedication and disdpline, each kata being more complex as Progression is made.
The children are encouraged by regular grading when they are tested on physical performance, etiquette and manners, kihon (basic techniques, kata (forms) and kumite (sparring). They are awarded a succession of grades (9th to 1st kyu) and coloured belts to indicate their Progress.
We offer a disciplined training session, suitable for school aged children, where they will not only learn but have fun and participate in a variety of social events.
We support the Royal British Legion and hold a special evening every year as part of Remembrance Day, where the children wear a poppy, put on a demonstration of their skills and listen to stories told by the veterans. The children learn of the courage and self sacrifice made by our armed forces and of the reality of life during the war. We also make a donation to the Royal British Legion as part of this event.
We hold charity fund raising events for various charities including 'Jeans for Genes' research into genetic disorders and cancer research. The children are asked to think about others less fortunate than themselves.
We are willing to teach children with disability, including those with asthma, diabetes, epilepsy, dispraxia and hearing problems. Health and fitness is improved by our martial arts training and it can help with co-ordination problems.
We aim to develop good characters in our students, the results of which will show in their attitude and home and in school Bullying in any form is not tolerated and any student found to be bullying or using any techniques taught in our sessions on others outside the center will be asked to leave. The etiquette and code of conduct rtquirtd in the classes is of a very high standard and the children quickly learn self discipline. A visit to any of our classes will show the excellent manners of even the youngest children.
We hold courses which encompass a variety of martial arts including judo, Jujutsu, karate, Iaido, aikido, weapons (wooden staff. jo and wooden swords. bokken) and self defence with master instructors of the highest calibre in the UK.
Our aim is to provide a safe, disciplined, fun way of teaching the martial arts to help children grow into mature, well mannered individuals making a better society for the future.
