As a teacher I wish to provide a safe, inclusive, and comfortable environment that provides lots of opportunities for my students to express oneself in their learning by meeting them where they are at. I will list strategies below that will help me accomplish my learning goal as listed up.
Every day class will start of with a morning meeting for students to learn each other’s names as well as for all of them to be able to share and listening to what is happening in their lives. This morning meeting strategy is apart of classroom responsive training. Morning meeting creates a scenes of community, safety, and it includes everyone to. By creating a scene of community my students will feel more comfortable in their day to day lives inside the classroom to grow and learn and take learning risks so that they can grew further.
During the beginning of the year I will discuss with my students about what the rules and expectations are for them in our classroom. The students will also have a voice on what they believe should became apart of the rules in which they follow. I hope to communicate that safety and learning are the top priorities in this class.
I plan to offer supports for my students when they need it to keep them on track of growing further as a students by offering picture cues, directions, peer support, and teacher one-on-one support. My students will be asked to think of resources that can help them in their learning for example chart around the room, books, peers, etc. I will also make sure that my students have things to do at every moment by creating lots of hands on tasks. By doing this my student will never have a dull moment which will hopefully create less distracting outburst.
A classroom that feels safe, comfortable, inclusive creates a well managed room where students can learn to grow academically and into themselves.
