International Match Point Scoring - "IMP" Scoring
IMPs is the normal method of scoring in team events, or any event where only two tables play each board. It can be used in a pairs event, but matchpoint scoring is far more common. When playing IMPs, your score on a contract is compared to the score of the other team who played the same hands. You are then either rewarded or penalized a certain number of IMPs based on the difference:
The "Team Scoring" number in our Fast Results Analytics assumes the "other table" always reaches the par contract and takes all the available tricks. So the "Team Scoring" reports the number of imps you would have won or lost comparing your result with the par contract and Double Dummy play. If you score better than par, your Team score will show you winning IMPs. If you scored worse than par, the Team Score will show you losing IMPs.
