Taylor Lodge #98 Scholarship @ Washington Community High School
This award was established by Taylor Masonic Lodge #98 Washington, Illinois to financially assist qualified Washington Community High School Seniors planning to attend a Trade, Technical or Junior College. We feel this would help ensure the quality of education in our youth & show the strong support of masons in the future of our American youth.
AMOUNT:
One - $250.00 non-renewable - To be paid by the Taylor Masonic Lodge at Washington, IL to the trade, technical, or junior college of the recipient's choice.
CRITERIA:
The student must be a current year graduate of Washington Community High School.
The student must have applied for admission to an accredited post-secondary trade or technical school or junior college in a certified or associate degree program.
The student must have indicated an interest & demonstrated ability in the area of trade or technical education by having completed either a major or minor in these programs in night school.
The student has demonstrated an interest in continuing his or her education in a trade or technical field by applying for admission to an accredited trade or technical school or junior college.
The student shall complete & submit a formal application to the Counseling Department on such forms as the Counseling Department of Washington Community High School shall from time to time determine.
It will not be necessary for the applicant to demonstrate financial need in order to qualify for this scholarship.
The student must be enrolled as a full time student at the college of their choice.
SELECTION:
The method of selection for the recipient of the Masonic Lodge Scholarship shall be as follows:
The Counseling Department of Washington Community High School shall receive all scholarship applications & determine which applicants meet the established criteria.
A selection committee consisting of the chairpersons of the Industrial Arts Department, & the Home Economics Department & others as determined by the Counseling Department will select 3 applicants & forward their applications to the Masonic Lodge at least 2 weeks prior to the school's Academic Awards night.
The Masonic Lodge will make the final selection & provide the name of the winner & the runner up tot he Superintendent or the Counseling Department prior to the Academic Awards night.
PAYMENT:
The Counseling Department will provide the Masonic Lodge with the address of the school to which the scholarship funds will be sent.
