Blaney Commandery #5 (128 S. Sampson, Tremont, IL, 61568)
The York Rite consists of the Symbolic Lodge, which is of York origin; the Chapter of Royal Arch Masons; the Council of Cryptic Masons; and the Commandery of Knights Temple. The Lodge teaches of the LOST WORD, the Chapter teaches of the DISCOVERY of the WORD, the Council teaches of the PRESERVATION of the WORD, and the COMMANDERY binds the Christian virtues of their promise of immortality in the expanding story, thus rounding out the STORY of the WORD. It is also said that the Lodge symbolically deals with the material side of life. The Chapter and particularly the Royal Arch Degree, deals with the spiritual side of life. The Council deals with the philosophy of life and death, and the Commandery adds the Christain interpretation to the symbols of Ancient Craft Masonry. The York Rite of Freemasonry as practiced in Illinois, consists of four degrees of Capitular Masonry, conferred in a Chapter of Royal Arch Masons; three degrees of Cryptic Masonry, conferred in a Council of Cryptic Masons; and three Orders of Chivalric Masonry, conferred in a Commandery of Knights Templar. Minor differences in structure may occur in jurisdictions outside of Illinois. Regardless of the specific form, the degree work is dignified, impressive and inspirational, and is designed to reinforce and expand upon the moral precepts taught in the three degrees of the Symbolic Lodge.

Grotto
Abbas Grotto (1839 1/2 Highview Road, East Peoria, IL 61611) Facebook
Masonry proper, is all work… solemn, serious and sublime work… there is not and never should be a line of light and frivolous from the first step as we enter the outer courts, to the last in the Holy of Holies of its mystic temple. Truth, everlasting and unchanging, is the foundation on which it is erected and on this basis its votaries by bonds of brotherhood which are mutually helpful and beneficent. While it is as Prophets we open the portals of the Enchanted Realm to Master Masons, we are none the less loyal to Masonry. We carry with us the solemn lessons we have learned within the Lodge and we are guided by the precepts of Masonry while we revel in the good cheer of the Prophets. The Order of Veiled Prophets, while proclaiming the loyalty of its members to Masonry, makes no pretense of being a Masonic Order, nor does it claim to confer a Masonic degree. Its membership is exclusively Masonic and its purpose is to supply the element of play such a way that work and play will be blended without marring the solid beauty of Masonry. The Grotto is said to be essentially Masonic in character.
International Shrine Clown Association (I.S.C.A)
There are many reasons Shrine Clowns belong to the International Shrine Clown Association (ISCA) and enjoy its wide-ranging advantages. Among these, chiefly is the included subscription to the ISCA's official publication, "CLOWN ALLEY" -- the largest and most definitive clown magazine -- more specifically, the only SHRINE CLOWN magazine -- in the world! The magazine is issued bi-monthly (6 times a year) to members and subscribers. It is LITERALLY crammed with solid Educational articles as well as informative clown news... perhaps someone in your area has written an article lately about something your clown unit does and does well. Perhaps you would like to write such an article or perhaps you could write something along the educational lines. Whether YOU write or not is really irrelevant (though we earnestly solicit your inputs -- we do not have a roving reporter). The point is "CLOWN ALLEY" is worth many times the annual membership fee of $20. As you personally improve your clown skills through educating yourself through such avenues as:

The Order of the Amaranth was formed as a fraternal and charitable organization whose membership of men and women with Masonic affiliation share in social activities to promote the growth of our Order. Although a belief in the existence of a Supreme Being is foremost to being a member, we welcome many faiths represented within our membership. Our Ritual is an integral part of our Order and emphasizes the values of everyday life, founded on the sublime teachings of Truth, Faith, Wisdom and Charity. It is by these teachings we strive for our own self-satisfaction and improvement while working with those who are in need of our help and assistance. Our major Philanthropic endeavor is the Amaranth Diabetes Foundation that raises funds which are provided, in the form of grants, to researchers selected by the American Diabetes Association. We are proud that 100% of the funds raised are provided for use by the ADF as the Foundation is elected from our membership and no administrative expenses are incurred. Through these donations, we hope our efforts will ultimately help in finding a cure for Diabetes. The Order spread throughout most of the United States and Canada as well as to the British Isles, Australia, France and the Philippines. As of 1998, forty-three grand courts are in existence as well as several subordinate courts under Supreme Council jurisdiction. It is a fraternal organization composed of Master Masons and their properly qualified female relatives. In its teachings, the members are reminded of their duties to God, to their Country, and to their fellow beings. They are urged to portray their belief in the Golden Rule. The extent of its charitable work and overall benevolence is limited only by the opportunities that exist. The Order of the Amaranth means many things to many people. To its early members it meant the opportunity to build upon the strong foundations of TRUTH, FAITH, WISDOM and CHARITY. It is a fraternal order having for its purpose, service to humanity, set to the music of fraternal love. It means a challenge to build higher and stronger upon these foundations of Fraternal Love and Service. It means the hand of Fraternal Friendship to those in distress, and Thinking and Remembering about its members in their hours of sorrow and sickness. Most of all, it means the Opportunity to serve and to enjoy the close fraternal ties of mutual respect and understanding, thus enriching our lives with friendship.

York Rite Sovereign College

The York Rite Sovereign College of North America exists primarily to be of service to the York Rite of Freemasonry. The York Rite Sovereign College of North America came into being in the City of Detroit, Michigan on January 6, 1957. It was the result of a meeting called by Richard W. Lewis, Past Grand High Priest of the Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons of Michigan, and attended by the heads of the four Michigan York Rite grand Bodies and a number of distinguished Masonic leaders from other States. These founders, responding to a need which had long been recognized in the York Rite, outlined the structure and purpose of the new organization and arranged for its incorporation.

Allied Masonic Degrees
Illini Council #347 (Peoria)
Grand Council Allied Masonic Degrees, USA
The Allied Masonic Degrees are an invitational organization, and requires membership in the Royal Arch as well as the Symbolic Lodge. Membership is limited to 27 members per council. The Allied Masonic Degrees are detached degrees some of which, many years ago, were conferred under Craft warrants and formed part of the then loosely governed Freemasonry of the period. Many of these detached degrees became dormant in some places, although in others they were conferred as side degrees. In time, the better of these degrees were grouped together in an organized body under the title of Allied Masonic Degrees. The degrees comprising the system in our Jurisdiction in the U.S.A. are the Royal Ark Mariner, Secret Monitor, Knight of Constantinople, Saint Lawrence the Martyr, Architect, Superintendent, Grand Tilers of Solomon, Master of Tyre, Excellent Master, Installed Sovereign Master, Installed Commander Noah, Red Branch of Eri and Ye Ancient Order of Corks. They are conferred in the United States in Councils chartered by the Grand Council. In addition to perpetuating these degrees, there is still another and equally important purpose. It is to bring together, in small groups, Freemasons who are interested in the advancement of all Masonry, preparing themselves to better serve the Craft through the medium of study and research. By limiting the membership in a Council and securing membership only by invitation, the result is a congenial group able to enjoy full fellowship when meeting together. Wherever there is an active Council of Allied Masonic Degrees, it exerts an influence for the betterment of Freemasonry in all the Masonic Bodies.
