Materials and Set-Up

Materials I used:

• Large white sticky papers
• Markers for whitepaper, diff colors
• Power strips with multiple plug-ins
• Tape to tape down power cords from wall to tables.
• (I asked each developer to bring their own power cord for their laptops)
• Projector in case we wanted to look at spreadsheet of deliverables on wiki (we ended up not even using the projector)
• Lots of food, coffee, chocolate, and laughter

Set-Up

Day before sprint, sent out an email reminding everyone of the "party" and included schedule for the event.

Night before sprint, I went up the big open room we were going to use for the Doc Sprint on the following morning, and did the following prep work:

• Set up the tables, taped down power cords to the floor, put chairs in place.
• Posted the procedures for configuring laptops to use the wireless.
• Used the big white sticky papers to write out the "Goals" of the Sprint and posted them prominently on the wall.

• I also used the big sticky papers to write outlines of each of the two "books" (wiki spaces) that we were going to focus on for the Sprint. This was one of the biggest benefits of this Sprint: having the outline posted where all could see and contribute, and getting the feedback to mark it up, rearrange, and sections, and agree upon a final outline.

The morning of the event:

• I stopped by breakfast taco stand and kolache shop. Yum.
• With lots of help from colleagues, we got coffee and food laid out, and some better chairs up to the big room.
• Talked a few minutes about goals, process, outlines, etc.

Then people started writing. And discussing. And debating...
