This is where the aluminum strap bolts to keep the lifters from dropping out with the engine inverted.

If something should fail with the valve train.  The 2nd picture shows the opposite hole.

Picture  3 and 4  and  5,  show the vent holes in the water jacket. This is to make sure that no air is

trapped in this area near the exhaust port.  They are vented back to the radiator.  With the engine  

inverted this area becomes a high point  and could trap air.

Picture 6  is the modification to the rear main area.  The holes are for oil drain.   The pencil points

to the the grove the is cut for the rear main seal adapter that holds the new main seal.

This is the factory oil pickup mount.  It needs to be plugged as shown here.

Oil drain for the rear main seal, off set to miss main oil gallery.   The mains are line bored slightly

bigger to fit the Buick 300 crank.  Also the area for the rear seal is enlarged to use to use a new

seal.  An adapter must be made for this seal.  It is fully covered in Steve Wittman's plans sold by

Aircraft spruce co.   The adapter is also necessary  for the Buick 300 crank to be used.
