Big & Little SWEsters
☆☆NEW in 2025!☆☆
Year-round
This program is meant to foster mentorship, friendship, and a sense of belonging within the chapter. When a new member joins our SWE chapter, she will be paired with an older member who serves as a guide and support system throughout her collegiate engineering journey. The pairing is designed to help new members transition smoothly into their engineering career, offering them someone to turn to for advice, encouragement, and companionship.
End of the Year Gala
☆☆NEW in 2025!☆☆
April ##, 2026
Our End of the Year Gala is a formal celebration held in the spring to close out the school year and honor our graduating seniors. It’s a chance for members to dress up, enjoy a nice meal together, and reflect on all that we’ve accomplished throughout the year. Most importantly, the evening is dedicated to recognizing and celebrating the contributions and achievements of our SWE members and seniors as they prepare to take the next step in their journeys. It’s a meaningful and elegant send-off that brings our SWE community together one last time before summer break.
SWENext
☆☆NEW in 2025!☆☆
Year-round
Southern Illinois University Edwardsville offers a local SWENext program as a way for middle and high school girls to get involved with the Society of Women Engineers before entering college. It’s a great opportunity for students to explore their interest in STEM, connect with current SWE members, and participate in fun, hands-on events and mentorship activities. Through SWENext, girls can start building a network, gain exposure to college-level engineering experiences, and get a head start in the engineering community—all while still in school. It’s a supportive and inspiring way to get a foot in the door of the college world before officially becoming a college student.
