Congress of Christian Education
The Southwest District Congress of Christian Education (Congress) serves as the primary training arm of the Southwest District Association. Our purpose is "To promote Christian education in accordance with the teachings of the Holy Bible, and to improve methods of training and equipping in the local church, and for Kingdom Building." To encourage and support Christian Education. Our principal training activity is conducted at the Congress Annual Session in July, with additional year round educational opportunities. The Congress of Christian Education has met in sessions since 1896.
It is my contention that Christian education should not be taken lightly, nor does it come cheap. If we are to be successful in kingdom building, at least three things are required. First, we must be willing to SACRIFICE our TIME not only to be TRAINED but also to TRAIN others and vice versa (continued education). Secondly, we must be willing to SERVE using our TALENT (skill) to promote and to give EXCELLENCE in God's service. Thirdly, we must be willing to SERIOUSLY surrender portions of our TREASURE for resource and representation needs. Evangelist Billy Graham said, "Salvation is free, but discipleship cost everything". We can do more together than apart.
The "Great Commission" (in the context of the congress) is about reaching, connecting, and training. Our aim is not to be merely people in the pews, but to develop Christian purpose and common principle among God's powerful people.
