Read 2016 Letter from Matron Ministry President
The Matron Department of the Southwest District Missionary Baptist Association is a division of the Women’s Department. The targeted age group for this department is 18 – 35. As outlined in the Mission Statement of the Women’s Auxiliary of the National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc., our purpose is twofold:
First, reaching inward, nurturing our membership through mission study, education, fellowship, and prayer.
Second, reaching outward through personal witnessing, evangelizing, helping the needy and less fortunate, and ad seeking justice and liberty for all in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
The Southwest District Matron Department meets annually at the Southwest District Association which is held each year beginning the third Sunday of October. The Matron Hour is held on that Monday of the meeting from 6 -7pm.

Ministry Leader
Evangelist Demetria McCollum is the First Lady of the First Missionary Baptist Church Rockport in Malvern, AR. serving under the leadership of her husband, Pastor Rodrick L. McCollum, Sr. They have been married since July 3, 2010 and are blessed to have three sons; Rodrick Jr., Ryan and Raylon. A native of Hot Springs, AR, Evangelist McCollum is the second oldest child of Moderator and First Lady Crossley. She currently resides in Benton, AR. Demetria McCollum is employed by the Little Rock School District as a Middle School Counselor. Previously, she has also taught Middle School Math and served as a counselor for the Hot Springs, West Memphis and Little Rock School Districts. She is a proud graduate of both the University of Central AR and the University of AR at Little Rock.
Sis. McCollum considers herself one of God’s “change agents”, being used by Him to: encourage, empower, and enhance the lives of as many people as possible with God’s love. She was licensed as an Evangelist by her father in September 2004. In addition to sharing God’s Word with joy, she’s had the opportunity to serve in various capacities in her local church and on the district level. Presently, she holds the positions of Youth Director and Matron Department teacher at First Baptist Rockport, Southwest District (SWD) Section 3 Matron President, Assistant Supervisor of Youth Department for SWD Congress, Youth Teacher for SWD Congress and Chairperson of the Matron Department for the SWD Association. Above all else, she loves God and seeks to please Him in all that she does!!
