Berea Station Events: On a Mission to Uplift a Community

The purpose of Berea Station Events is to enhance the Berea community by planning improvements, activities, and events to improve the quality of life and highlight the unique history of the area. The group has successfully pursued this goal through a variety of projects and partnerships. Past projects have included honoring the history of the community with an original mural and anecdotal history book, organizing community events featuring local vendors and artists, paying tribute to our military heroes with a memorial marker and dedication event, promoting education through assistance for school projects and student scholarships, and making several improvements to the Swamp Rabbit Station @ Berea. Berea Station Events, INC is committed and excited to continue their work in the community with additional projects already in progress.

Berea Community Sign

Berea Station Events, Inc., proudly announces our next project – a gateway sign to be built on Sulphur Springs Road at the Swamp Rabbit Trail, an area that continues to see tremendous growth. The proposal for the design and construction of this project was presented to Greenville County and was approved.

The design will reflect the front entrance of the school that once stood on Farr’s Bridge Road with actual bricks and keystones from that school to be used in its construction. Please see the artist rendering.

We invite you to become part of this project by helping us raise the required funds. You may help in one of several ways. Direct contributions may be mailed to the address below and are tax deductible.

Or, if you prefer, you may purchase a copy of one of our two publications, Berea - A Look Back, highlighting the history of our community, or The Mystery On The GHS Swamp Rabbit Trail, a delightful, interactive children's book. All proceeds from the sale of these books will be allocated for this sign project.

Berea A Look Back Mural and Book Project

We Rise by Lifting Others

Mural of Berea History

Berea: A Look Back

Stories and History of the Berea Community

This project was born to address the fact that there is no artwork on the trail from the Swamp Rabbit Cafe to City Of Travelers Rest. Also there exists little, if any, written history of the Berea Community. So we decided to interview local longtime residents to gain an insight into the history of the community. Using this information and the talents of the Art Dept. at Berea High School and local artist Adam Schrimmer a mural was painted at the Swamp Rabbit Station @ Berea. Using this information the book Berea: A Look Back book was written. The mural and book dedication was on May 20, 2017.

Greenville Journal picked this project as one of the top five most notable community events, improvements, milestones, and changes of 2017. https://greenvillejournal.com/2017/12/28/2017-top-5-community/
