About Prof. Vishvakarma
Dr. Santosh Kumar Vishvakarma received the B.Sc. degree in Electronics from University of Gorakhpur, Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, India in 1999, M.Sc. degree in Electronics from Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya, Indore, Madhya Pradesh, India in 2001, M.Tech. degree in Microelectronics from Punjab University, Chandigarh, India in 2003, and PhD degree in Microelectronics and VLSI from Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, India, in 2010. From 2009 to 2010, he was with the University Graduate Center, Kjeller, Norway, as a Post-Doctoral Fellow.
Currently, Dr. Santosh Kumar Vishvakarma is a Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Indore, India where he is leading “NanoScale Devices, VLSI Circuit and System Design (NSDCS) Research Group” from 2010 onwards. His research interests include Volatile and Non-Volatile Memory and Memory Architectures; Compute In-Memory using SRAM/RRAM/MRAM; AI Hardware Accelerators; Biomedical Circuits; Reliable and Secure Circuits.
Professor Vishvakarma has authored/co-authored more than 200 research papers in peer-reviewed international journals and conferences and granted 06 Indian patents. He is a Senior Member of IEEE, Member of ACM, Member of VLSI Society of India (VSI). Dr. Vishvakarma is Chairman of VLSI Society of India (VSI), Madhya Pradesh Chapter, India; Chair of IEEE Circuit and System Society (CASS) of Madhya Pradesh Chapter, India.
Professor Vishvakarma is the President of India, Visitor Nominee for all IITs, NITs and IIEST Shibpur, West Bengal; Member of Academic Advisor Committee, Central Zone – SemiconIndia Future Design initiative by Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MietY), Govt. of India; Member of Task Force, Electronics and Semiconductor, Govt. of Madhya Pradesh; Chairman of VLSI Society of India, Madhya Pradesh Chapter and Chair of IEEE Circuit and System Society, Madhya Pradesh Section. Dr. Vishvakarma is also a member of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) for Wearable Electronics.
Professor Vishvakarma received the prestigious German Academic Exchange Services -Bilateral Exchange Fellowship in 2018 as a visiting scholar at Ruhr University, Germany, and Brandenburg University of Technology, Germany. He was also a visiting scholar at Aalto University, Finland, 2016 under the Indo-Finland Project.
Professor Vishvakarma has been recipient of “VSI Best Faculty Award” from VLSI Society of India in 38th VLSID Conference in Jan 2025 for his vision and outstanding contribution towards the growth of VLSI Design and Semiconductor Ecosystem in India.
