Prospective Graduate Student:
There is one opening for a Bioengineering PhD position for Fall 2026. If you have an undergraduate (or master's) degree in bioengineering or biomedical engineering, or a related field, and have a strong interest, motivation, and background in contributing to the exciting, high-impact, interdisciplinary biomedical imaging, super-resolution microscopy, and neuroscience field, please feel free to contact me [skgaire [at] ncat [dot] edu] to discuss this opportunity. The knowledge and expertise of implementing AI tools for imaging are required for this position. Below are the mandatory admission criteria.
Additionally, we are always looking for talented and motivated graduate students to join our team to perform exciting research in the area of AI/ML for biomedical imaging, computer vision and other related areas.
Ideal candidates should have a solid background in imaging, image processing and analysis, and AI/ML (deep learning implementation with CNN and transformer models). We are particularly interested in candidates who have strong programming skills with Tensorflow, Pytorch, Caffe, or other similar frameworks for deep learning implementation. Strong proficiency in Python, MATLAB, and other similar programming languages is required. Some experience with image segmentation, classification, and analysis will be a plus.

Additional criteria:
Undergraduate GPA: 3.5+
