Brain Science: Jeff Hawkins
Ted Talk: Brain science connects observe and infer to memory: How brain science will change computing
Description:
Understanding is developed by making logical connections between what is observed and what is inferred. Students learn to gather evidence and recognize that nference and preditction depends on memory - past experience, perspective, bias, and point-of-view. Students learn to organize their thoughts, question their assumptions, and revise their understanding (ie. build new memory) when observations do not support inference. This approach treats the human brain as a memory system which stores and plays back experiences to help us intelligently infer what has happened and/or predict what will happen next.
