Icepick's Submarines

My U.S. Navy enlistment lasted from 24 May 1989 to 23 May 1997.

Of those 8 years, I spent the first year and a half in school.

The rest was split between two submarines.

My rating was Submarine Sonar Technician.

I entered bootcamp as a Seaman (E-3),

graduated from Sonar "A" school as a Petty Officer 3rd Class (E-4),

re-enlisted for Petty Officer 2nd Class (E-5) after exactly 2 years,

and tested my way into Petty Officer 1st Class (E-6) within 5 years.

On my first submarine, I was given the name "Icepick",

my final, formal title was STS1(SS) Flores.
