M97, The Owl Nebula

The Owl Nebula, hiding at an apparent visual magnitude of about 10, is the faintest object imaged at Mt. Stony Brook as of 03/09/2010. It is called the owl nebula because the dark areas resemble the eyes of an owl! This image was exposed for roughly 1 hour and 15 minutes combined in B, V, and H_alpha filters.
