Meeting During Alert Levels 1 and 2

At Level 1

Stay home if unwell: as usual, those with cold/flu symptoms in the previous three days are asked to stay home.

Contact tracing: the sidespeople will enter people on the contact tracing register if they do not scan in with the Covid app.

Communion will be offered in bread and wine but the common cup is only for sipping, not for intinction/dipping. Those who wish may of course just take bread - it is Anglican teaching that this is a full communion.

Sanitising is still available on entry and exit as well as on the way to receive communion.

Offering: the bowl is still placed by the entrance rather than being passed around.

The peace continues to be exchanged in a contactless way. Please don't try to touch or shake hands with others.

Seating: we are no longer required to keep alternate pews empty; do remember that some people may still be wanting to keep some space.

Morning tea: those who wish to can again share a cuppa after the services.

Vulnerable people: those whose health is vulnerable and are concerned about gathering in public with others are encouraged to check the government advice and also to talk with their GP or medical specialist about the advisability of going out in public.

At Level 2

Stay home if unwell: as usual, those with cold/flu symptoms in the previous three days are asked to stay home.

Contact tracing: the sidespeople will enter people on the contact tracing register if they do not scan in with the Covid app.

Numbers: to allow safe spacing, the maximum number at a service is 20 at St Andrew's and 80 at St Luke's. This will affect combined services.

Sanitising: people are asked to sanitise on entrance and exit; also on the way to and from communion.

Hymn books: St Andrew's people will be asked to take a hymn book home to avoid double handling these.

Prayer books: the diocese has asked that people take a prayer book home (if you don't have your own copy) and bring it to church each week to reduce the number of things handled by multiple people. At St Luke's people may choose to use the words on the screen instead.

Masks: The diocese strongly advises that everyone over 12 wear masks, so please bring your mask to church. Disposable ones will be made available to those who forget.

Spacing: people sit in alternate rows, and leave a space between them and the next person if they are not from the same "bubble". As we only have half of the pews available, please move along the pew so others can be seated too.

Communion: this is bread only, taken from a standing station. The Anglican church recognises receiving bread as receiving full communion.

Offering: the plate will be placed near the door and not passed around; sidespeople will take this forward during the offertory hymn. Or you can give by automatic payment:

  • Parish account: 06 0941 0018309 00

  • St Andrew's account: 02 0940 0022146 00

The peace: stand up where you are seated and turn to exchange the peace from a distance with words or a wave. Do not move around the church.

Morning tea: is not served at level 2.

Coming on-site: we need to make a list of those who come to church services or other groups on site. Nikita keeps a record of others who come on-site at Level 2. If you do, email stlukesoamaru@gmail.com.
