Head Coaches

Jeff Ridgway - Varsity Green Head Coach
Jeff is the president of one of the area's largest select volleyball clubs - Saint Louis Vision Volleyball Club (SLVVC). The club is currently in its sixth year and has 13 teams spanning from 12U to 18U. These teams compete both regionally and nationally in USAV and AAU Volleyball.  The club has grown from 8 to 13 teams over the past five years with some teams finishing in the top 15 last year in the Gateway Region. His 2014 17U team finished 14th and his 2015 18U team finished 12th. He has coached teams at every age group. Jeff is also the current Assistant Varsity Coach and Head JV Coach at Kennedy Catholic High School since 2013.

Jeff's coaching philosophy is to develop strong, confident athletes who are great teammates. He believes building great coach-player-team relationships are critical in getting athletes to perform at their highest level and to work together to achieve goals. Jeff wants players to go beyond what they think they are capable of doing. Practices are where players build strong, fundamental skill sets which they will utilize in matches and tournaments. He believes in being disciplined  both on and off the court.

Jeff focuses on strong principle based coaching in both the mental and physical aspects of the game. Solid fundamental volleyball skills coupled with strong team culture is a huge part of developing successful teams.

Ray Twohy - Junior Varsity Head Coach
Ray has been part of the Intensity organization since 2013, coaching both Junior High and Junior Varsity teams as well as the Director of Player Development in 2015. He has over 15 years of coaching experience in several youth sports, including volleyball, baseball, basketball, and softball.  In 2014 at Nationals, his JV team placed second in Division 5A, which was an eight place improvement from the previous year. He has coached CYC boys and girls volleyball for the past 5 years with both of his teams advancing into playoffs in 2015. In 2015-16, Ray was also the 12U Head Coach for Panathinokis A.O., a St Louis select volleyball club. He understands what it takes to play at a higher level of competition, having played college football.  He also received formal college level classes in physical development, game strategy, and mental readiness in multiple sport disciplines that have helped prepare him to coach.  He is USAV IMPACT certified and continues to seek out opportunities to further his knowledge of the game and athlete.

Ray finds great pleasure in being part of an athlete’s advancement and believes the first building step is developing the athlete’s self-esteem. With a strong self-esteem the “aha” moment can occur and true athletic development can happen.
