Our Pastor

Father Tony, was born in Jalostotitlan, Jalisco, Mexico.

He is the son of Pedro Romo y Maria de Jesus Romo and has 2 sisters and 6 brothers.

He went to a public school for boys for his elementary education and did his middle school at a Catholic school administered by the Servants of the Blessed Sacrament, a Mexican congregation of sisters.

Father studied high school at a seminary of the Society of the Divine Word in the state of Hidalgo, in Mexico.

He did two years of law school and then came to the USA to join the Society of the Divine Word.

He received his BA degree at Divine Word College, in Epworth, IA and did his novitiate in Techny, IL.

He received his Masters of Divinity at Catholic Theological Union in Chicago, IL.

Father Tony spent two years in Portugal for his overseas training program, in order to have a missionary experience still as a seminarian.

Father professed Perpetual Vows as a Divine Word Missionary on September 19, 2004 in Techny, IL. Ordained a priest in his hometown, Jalostotitlan, Jal, Mexico on July 2, 2005.

Served as vocation director for the Society of the Divine Word for six years:

Lived one year in Riverside California and a year and a half in Orlando Florida.

Lived three and a half years in Washington DC.

First year in Memphis served as an associated pastor for St. Joseph and Sacred Heart Became pastor of St. Joseph on June 27, 2012.
