How to resolve DYMO Label Framework/Web Service Errors

This error is generally attributed to one of the following issues:

  • The DYMO Label Software (DLS) is not installed.
  • The DLS is out-of-date and requires an update.
  • The DYMO Web Service is not running/responsive.
  • A browser update has caused a conflict.

To resolve:

1. Verify that you have installed the DLS.

    • Windows: DYMO Label should appear in your list of applications in the start menu.
    • MacOS: DYMO Label should be available in your "Applications" folder.
    • If DLS is not installed, please use the download links found on the FAQ page to retrieve and install the latest supported version of the DLS.

2. Make sure your version of DLS is up-to-date.

    • To find out which version of the DLS you currently have, open the DYMO Label application.
      • Windows: locate and open the "Help" menu and click on "About DYMO Label"
      • MacOS: locate and open the "DYMO Label" menu and click on "About DYMO Label"
      • A dialog will appear that displays the version number. Check your version against the latest supported version found on the FAQ page, and download and update if needed.

3. Verify that the DYMO Web Service is running.

    • Windows: Check for the DYMO Web Service in the system tray. You can generally locate this by clicking the ^ icon that appears to the left of the system clock in the bottom right corner of the screen. In the pop-up that opens you should find a DYMO icon that when hovered over with your mouse says "DYMO Label Web Service".
      • If you DO NOT find a DYMO Web Service icon in this menu, the service is not running and needs to be started. This can be achieved by opening the start menu, locating and opening the DYMO Label folder in your list of applications, and launching item labeled "DYMO Web Service."
      • Complete step 4.
    • MacOS: Check for the DYMO Web Service in the status bar. You can generally locate this by looking at the row of icons that appear in the upper right corner of the screen and finding the DYMO icon.
      • If you DO NOT find a DYMO Web Service icon in this menu, the service is not running and needs to be started. This can be achieved by opening spotlight search and searching for the following: /Library/Frameworks/DYMO/SDK/DYMO.DLS.Printing.Host When found, click and launch the service from the search results.
      • Complete step 4.

4. Confirm that the Browser is able to successfully communicate with the DYMO Web Service

    • In the browser where you access Salesforce and the StickIt app, navigate to the following URL:
      • DLS >= 8.7.2 - https://127.0.0.1:41951/DYMO/DLS/Printing/Check
      • DLS <= 8.7.1 - https://localhost:41951/DYMO/DLS/Printing/Check
    • You should see a page with a green success message that reads "Congratulations! DLS Web Service is up and running. You can now print from supported web sites." If so, re-try label building in StickIt.
    • If the URL loads a page that makes reference to ERR_SSL_VERSION_INTERFERENCE, this is due to Chrome enabling experimental support for TLS 1.3 To resolve, open a new tab and go to chrome://flags and search for the TLS 1.3 flag. Change the setting from "Default" to "Disabled" and relaunch Chrome when prompted. After relaunch, visit https://localhost:41951/DYMO/DLS/Printing/Check again and you should see a success message. Functionality should now be restored to StickIt!
    • If the URL loads something different than the message above or StickIt is still not working correctly, please contact support for additional assistance.
