Rental Car
Jim chose Avis: confirmation #11543766US3, $527.99 for 5 day rental. See below for PDF of confirmation email.
Research
We only need a car for 5 days, which may (or may not) make the rental cheaper than the weekly rates, but the comparisons below are based on a one week rental of a Dodge Caravan (seats 7, 5 bags). Note that we could consider squeezing into an SUV if we are only 5, depending on how much equipment we are bringing versus renting, which would cut a couple hundred dollars off the price.
Also, most rental companies seem to be offering a discount ($50-$100) if you pay up front, but I don't know if that's worth it.
Here is what I found regarding car rentals at MSP airport, all pricing is for a Dodge Caravan:
Hertz: $770/week;
Dollar: $630/week (click on the "City Special Rate" on their website);
Budget: $740/week
Enterprise: $550/week (note, when I tried to see details about this rate/minivan, it brought me to a reservation process, so you may need to pay up front)
National: $550/week (note, when I tried to see details about this rate/minivan, it brought me to a reservation process, so you may need to pay up front)
Jim will be handling the reservation, since he is the first to arrive and will likely be picking it up.

Tips
From Noah's friend Scott:
We found good fishing in Fourtown lake for Walleye and Smallmouth. About 3/4's the way up on the west side of Fourtown was a great camping spot. Excellent fishing was located on the north side of an island nearby. At the entry point to Mudro is a Sister Sally's Sawmill Salon. Interesting place to visit. This trip has several short and challenging portages, kinda rugged and interesting.
