After a tough weekend at the NCAA's West Preliminary meet in Lawrence, Kansas, the Oregon Ducks fell from from third to sixth in the women's rankings released Tuesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Association.

The UO men's team, fourth last week, moved up a spot to No. 3. The Ducks are barely behind No. 2 Florida.

The UO men pushed their expected NCAA Championships scorers through the regional, including distance runner Edward Cheserek and sprinter/hurdler Devon Allen.

The UO women lost sprinter/jumper Jasmine Todd when she didn't compete at the regional for reasons not yet explained but apparently not injury-related. She wrote on her Instagram account that her UO career is over.

Todd competed for Team USA at last summer's World Track & Championships.

UO sprinter Hannah Cunliffe did not qualify for the NCAA Championships in the 200 meters, an event in which she was projected for second place by Track & Field News.

This week's women's top five consists of Arkansas, Kentucky, Texas, LSU and Texas A&M.

The men's top five this week looks like this: Texas A&M, Florida, Oregon, LSU and Arkansas.

Injuries end Oregon sprinter Marybeth Sant’s career

Jasmine Todd isn’t the only Oregon sprinter whose career has come to an early end. LAWRENCE, Kan. — The Oregon track and field team finished the NCAA West Preliminary meet with 32 total entries into the NCAA Championships, including 18 entries that were added during Saturday’s final day of competition.

The men’s team will come back to Eugene with 17 entries in 12 events and the women will have 15 entries in nine events.

The Ducks qualified in big numbers during the 1,500 meters on Saturday, advancing Blake Haney, Sam Prakel and Matthew Maton on the men’s side, and Annie Leblanc and Lilli Burdon for the women.

Deajah Stevens won her 200 heat in 22.48 to move up to No. 2 all-time at Oregon. Ariana Washington, already qualified in the 100, also earned a spot in the 200 by winning her heat in a personal-best time of 22.76.

Alaysha Johnson set the school record in the 100 hurdles with her time of 12.97, becoming the first Duck to break 13 seconds in the event. Sasha Wallace also qualified in 13.20.

Devon Allen once again put in a heavy workload on Saturday, winning the 110 hurdles and also qualifing in the 200.

Allen’s day started with the 4x100, where he was joined by Christian Sourapas, Travonn White and Marcus Chambers, a team that finished in 39.76 to take third and grab one of the three qualifying spots in each heat.

The women’s 4x100 team of Danielle Barbian, Stevens, Hannah Cunliffe and Washington made it through as well, running 43.75 to win its heat and post the second-fastest time in the region.

The women’s team also advanced a 4x400 quartet of Ashante Horsley, Stevens, Brooke Feldmeier and Raevyn Rogers which finished in 3:29.74.

Edward Cheserek, Jake Leingang and Alli Cash will each advanced in the 5,000.

Brittany Mann advanced in the shot put.

The Ducks will close out the season at the NCAA Championships at Hayward Field on June 8-11.
