Designed, wrote and maintained computer programs related to video
messaging systems and cash register security systems. Several hardware
projects were also undertaken from conception through commercial release.
Built and maintained IBM compatible computer systems. Provided telephone
support and help to various customers which included the Hilton and
Marriott hotel groups, Army VA hospitals and Martin Marietta. Area of
expertise include micro-processors, micro-controllers, ISA I/O ports, and
their associated support chips and software and hardware programming.
The design of complete systems including printed circuit boards and
metalwork. Programming in numerous languages including C, several Basic's
and assembly codes. Developed a Good working knowledge of MS-DOS up to
version 6.00, Windows 3.1, and many other programs associated with them,
including MS Word and Excel. PORTAC was sold to an east-coast company
and the facility was moved there.

maintenance of Fuel Volume monitoring systems. Designed new peripherals for
the system including a portable RAM data pack and a WAN data collection
system with an interface to a Micro Computer. Designed a company
payroll program. Designed a complete modular micro computer system to process
tachograph disks. Worked with the President of the
company to design a printed circuit board testing system.

Personal:
Member of the Breakfast Optimist Club of Goleta, a local Optimist Club
serving the youth of Goleta Valley. Active work with kids includes
helping to run the Jr. Optimists Club at Hollister School, the creation,
running, and maintenance of 2 computer labs for the Goleta Boys and Girls
Club one at Goleta the other at UCSB. Help in the running of 2 Hispanic
oriented learning programs at the Goleta Boys and Girls Club, Club
Proteo, a computer orientated program for younger children and a Adult
Teaching class teaching Word Processing and other computer skills. Other
projects include community work the planting, documentation, and upkeep
of a grove of trees at Stow House. Helping in the creation of vegetable
gardens at Hollister and Isla Vista Schools. Hobbies include camping,
sports car rally's, bicycle riding, reading good Si-Fi books.
As of 2006, I have become a radio ham, call sign KI6HGH. I have a UK ham licence also G8OTV.
I am a member of the local Amateur Radio Emergency Service and a registered
disaster worker in Santa Barbara County.
