Directions for making an IR LED Marker

You will need a rudimentary knowledge of soldering to complete this project.

Parts you will need:

1 dry erase marker

1 "N" size battery, Radio Shack part# 23-023

1 "N" size battery harness, Radio Shack part# 270-405

1 High-Output IR LED, Radio Shack part# 276-143

1 SPST momentary switch (normally open), Radio Shack part# 275-1571

Tools you will need:

1 soldering iron and some solder, the thinner the better

1 thin needle nose pliers

1 drill with bits

1 diagonal cut pliers

Fabrication:

· Remove the plug on the end of the dry erase marker

· Take out ink sponge and tip of marker

· Drill hole in side of marker where momentary switch will protrude

· Solder LED, battery cage and momentary switch into a loop

· Slide the loop into the marker body with the LED leading

· Use thin needle nose pliers to grab the switch and pull it into position
