REGISTRATION

We also need to know whether or not you are over 18 and if you have a valid driver's license. Once you are signed up, you will receive a confirmation email with further details. Please review the Volunteer Options below to determine your preferred role.
Of course, there is no fee required for registering as a volunteer.
Volunteer Options
In-Car Coach
An In-Car Coach is experienced with autocross/autoslalom, is an advanced DE student or a DE instructor who must have excellent communication skills.
The primary responsibility of an In-Car Coach is to accompany the student at all times during in-car exercises and provide instruction according to the guidelines of the Street Survival School.
In-Car Coaches must complete the Volunteer Training.
Exercise Leader
An exercise leader is an experienced autocrosser, advanced DE student or DE instructor who must have excellent communication skills and should have experience with a prior SSS as an in-car coach, exercise leader or general volunteer.
The primary responsibilities of an exercise leader include providing instruction to both the student and in-car coach at the entry of a given exercise area and to ensure safety for their exercise.
Exercise Leaders manage the general volunteers who are assigned to support their exercise, and should start/stop their exercise when instructed to do so by the Event Coordinator.
Exercise leaders are involved with setting up the courses.
Exercise Leaders must complete the Volunteer Training.
General Volunteer
A general volunteer is essential to ensure the smooth execution of the event.
General volunteers place and reset cones, assist exercise leaders, guide students and volunteers to designated parking and event staging areas and run the demos.
General volunteers help with the tech inspection at the start of the event.
Classroom Instructor
Classroom instructors present students with the standard Street Survival School course material.
Classroom Instructors must complete the Volunteer Training.
Admin/Registration
A person in this role will help with setting up and managing registration for volunteers and students, managing radio distribution; managing distribution of safety vests for exercise leaders and on-course general volunteers; managing in-car coaches after registration and breaks to make sure they head out to exercise areas in a timely manner; managing/engaging with parents/giving them tasks as needed; picking up, setting up and clearing away all beverages, snacks and lunch; distributing feedback forms and pens to all volunteers and students.
Management/Event Leader
An Event Leader should have experience at prior Street Survival Schools as Exercise Leaders or In-Car Coaches.
An Event Leader has the overall responsibility for setting up and running the exercises, coordinating the exercise leaders and in-car coaches, managing the timing for the event and determining when to start/stop each exercise.
Event Leaders are involved in setting up courses, giving speeches to students and volunteers.
Event Leaders may also mentor those who are interested in becoming Event Leaders in the future.
