Bio: Silvia Marchesi is Professor of Economics at the Department of Economics, Management and Statistics of the University of Milano-Bicocca, where she is also Director of the Center for European Studies (CefES). She holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Warwick and has held visiting positions at Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, the London School of Economics, the University of Heidelberg, the University of Göttingen, the University of Heidelberg, the Centre for the Study of Globalisation and Regionalisation at the University of Warwick, and the Einaudi Institute for Economics and Finance in Rome.
Her research interests are in international finance, macro development, and political economy, with a particular focus on sovereign debt and international development. She has worked on IMF programs, debt restructurings, financial crises, aid allocation, and the links between sovereign risk, firm-level outcomes, and regional development.
She is a Program Committee member of the PEIO Conference — Political Economy of International Organizations — and of DebtCon — the Interdisciplinary Sovereign Debt Research and Management Conference — and a former member of the Executive Board of the European Public Choice Society.
