Bio: I am Professor of Economics at the Department of Economics, Management and Statistics (DEMS) of the University of Milano-Bicocca, where I am also Director of the Center for European Studies (CefES). I hold a PhD in Economics from the University of Warwick and have held visiting positions at Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, the London School of Economics, the University of Heidelberg, the University of Göttingen, the Center for the Study of Globalization and Regionalization at the University of Warwick, and the Einaudi Institute for Economics and Finance in Rome.
My research focuses on International Finance, Development Economics, and Political Economy. Across these fields, I examine how international financial flows and shocks affect people and places. In particular, I study how sovereign risk and debt restructurings are transmitted to banks, firms, and households; how international financial institutions lend and set conditions; and how foreign aid is allocated and affects local economies.
I am a Program Committee member of the PEIO Conference — Political Economy of International Organizations — and of DebtCon — the Interdisciplinary Sovereign Debt Research and Management Conference — and a former member of the Executive Board of the European Public Choice Society.
