Final lecture: May 6, 2011

Post date: Apr 30, 2011 1:30:15 PM

We will be having our final lecture on Friday, May 6, 2011. Please note the following important points:

1) We would really appreciate your attendance for this lecture as we'll also be having the course evaluations during class.

2) If you haven't yet written a review for the Goldwater et al. paper (see earlier announcement), please do so before next Friday. If you've already completed the two required reviews, please consider writing another one anyways: even a short review would be appreciated so that we can better contrast the different opinions.

3) Xuchen will be giving a presentation in the final class. Please read the following paper in advance of his presentation:

Jianfeng Gao and Mark Johnson,

"A comparison of Bayesian estimators for unsupervised Hidden Markov Model POS taggers",

EMNLP 2008

4) Finally, if you're completing a course project, we remind you that your final report is due in class on May 6

See you next Friday and thank you to everyone for your terrific participation thus far!
