Teacher Comments on the iPad Project
· “The iPad project has enabled my students to increase their independence in the use of technology. They have also increased time on task and cooperative play.” K-1 Developmental Skills Teacher
· “The iPads have impacted our students in so many ways...I think the most prevalent way is that my students are excited to learn. They are excited to have control of their own learning. It has been Amazing!” 3-4 Developmental Skills Teacher
· “The IPADS have been an excellent teaching tool for the Developmental Skills program. They provide a communication tool for students with limited or no verbal skills through the Proloquo 2 Go app which gives the student clear pictures to coincide with everyday words along with verbal output. The apps help to reinforce vocabulary, sequencing (through creating 'stories' to coincide with recipes for cooking activities and other topics) and fine motor skills which are essential to our students. The apps are also excellent tools for strengthening visual/spatial skills (as students piece together puzzles, place pictures/numbers in correct spots, etc). The IPADs have also been a great tool for implementing music, which is both essential and enjoyable for students with significant disabilities. They are also a great reinforcement for good behavior, completing work, etc. The students enjoy many of the games offered on the IPAD (which are also educational and strengthen the previously mentioned skills). I believe the IPADS are one of the absolute best tools for a student with special needs.” High School Developmental Skills Teacher.
· “The iPads have improved instruction and learning in my classroom. I am able to incorporate multisensory presentations that each student can watch/listen to at their own pace. It has helped with offering numerous alternative ways to conduct assessments (Proloquo 2 Go and STL), and even offering enrichment activities like puzzles to help students get acquainted with the new technology.” High School Autism LINKS Teacher
· “A variety of apps have increased my students spelling and reading skills. My students enjoy having access to Animal planet and Discovery videos.” High School Life Skills Teacher
