Participating ArtistsAffinity: SB-ADaPT Fest SproutsBlock & Block will be presenting Chaperone. A funny and touching duet about the power struggles between mothers and daughters. Chaperone is choreographed by mother/daughter artistic team Sarah Block (age 11) and her mom Melissa Block. Both Melissa & Sarah Block are SonneBlauma alumni. Most recently Sarah danced in Misa Kelly's Wallflower for the critically acclaimed SB-ADaPT Festival. A project that Melissa contributed to as choreographic assistant. Melissa performed with the company between 2007 and 2010. During this period she helped Misa Kelly create Grit & Under No Certain Circumstances performing both of these the works in Santa Barbara, and Los Angeles. Melissa also performed in Stephen Kelly's Lucky Ducks. In addition to managing the mother/daughter dance company Block & Block Melissa is a mother to not only Sarah, but Sarah's brother Noah. She works as a freelance writer, editor and is a nonprofit development professional. Sarah is in sixth grade at Monte Vista Elementary. In addition to dancing with Block & Block she has performed in the work of Robin Bisio and Misa Kelly. Presently she is training at Gustafson School of Ballet in Santa Barbara studying both ballet and jazz.
