has launched a project to build a $10bn IT hub near the capital, Accra, within three years.

It will employ about 50,000 people and house 25,000 people

In January, Kenya unveiled plans to build an "Africa's Silicon Savannah" within 20 years at a cost of $14.5bn.

Kenya's Konza Technology City, about 60km (37 miles) from the capital, Nairobi, is supposed to create more than 200,000 jobs by 2030.

The head of local technology giant RLG Communications, Roland Agambire, told the BBC that his company was investing in Hope City with the aim of making Ghana globally competitive

“City of Hope” gives the full meaning of hope as homes, offices, and conducive environment would be created for people to work. It is expected to be completed within three years.

The cluster is composed of six towers of different dimensions, one tower 270m height (75 storeys, the highest in Africa), two towers of 216m (60 storeys), and three towers of 152m height (42 storeys).

The towers would also have a university, schools, shopping centres, offices, residential areas, game centres with bridges connecting all the towers in the city.

Mr Roland Agambire, Chairman of the AGAMS Group and Chief Executive Officer of rlg Communications Limited, said his dream of building the city was inspired by former President Kwame Nkrumah and Tetteh Quarshie

The intention of creating an indigenous telecommunication operator in the voice and data industry; Mr Agambire said his outfit had also signed agreements with the Microsoft Corporation and the GUMA Group of Companies in South Africa

The six towers' project, known as the "City of Hope", will have Africa's tallest building at a height of 270 meters.

Computer hardware assembly plant, ICT training centre

Rlg produces communications equipment such as mobile handsets, electronic notebooks, tablets, laptops and LCD television monitors. The company has offices in China, Nigeria and The Gambia.

A locally owned technology giant, Rlg Communications, is constructing the project, which will house over 25,000 people and create over 50,000 jobs when complete.

It will also have a computer hardware assembly plant, ICT training centre, banks, shops, pleasure, sports, medical and educational facilities.

City of Hope is being built at the Kasoa a suburb of Accra.
