Abstract:
Electrical power production from renewable sources represents an attractive option for supplying some unconnected consumers to the electrical network. This solution is justified in many situations not only from a technical point of view but economically speaking, because of environment protection constraints. Romania has a great number of households and unelectrified small remote settlements, located especially in difficult to reach areas (Apuseni Mountains etc.). Also, Romania has an important solar and wind energy potential. The usage of this potential can supply the need for electric power in these sites. A general overview of a few successful demonstrative projects is made. The main solutions adopted during these projects are shown in order to promote the result obtained in the rural electrification.
