The Goo Goo Dolls have had some extra help onstage since the Dizzy tour.
Meet these unofficial band members.
Brad Fernquist
Touring guitarist, Let Love In tour - present
Brad started playing guitar when he was seven years old and attended Berklee College of Music for one semester. He has played with Michelle Branch, the New Radicals, Fastball and Lisa Marie Presley. He met the Goos when the New Radicals opened for the Goos in 1998.
Korel Tunador
Touring keyboardist, Let Love In tour - present
Korel moved from Pennsylvania to L.A. to play with Hanson. Robby has described him as “one of those weird, sort of semi-spiritual sort of dudes. He can pick up just about anything and make music with it. It's really nice to have him around the scene. He can play the guitar, percussion, drums. It's really turned into a real powerful package.” (liveDaily, 6/8/06.) Korel has also toured with Katy Perry.
Greg Suran
Touring guitarist, Gutterflower tour
Greg studied classical guitar at Northwestern University. He played in bands such as Tic Tah (later the Stonebillies), the Soulvitamins, and Slam, a "thrash-jazz quartet." Before joining up with the Goos he was in Chicago band the Cupcakes (pictured; Greg is second from the left) who released their self-titled debut album in 2000. He toured with Sunny Day Real Estate in 2000, Local H in 2001, and later the Fire Theft. Greg has also worked with the Blue Man Group, Neneh Cherry, and contributed to the Goos' own Gutterflower and Let Love In. His musical influences include Queen, David Bowie, the Cars, AC/DC, Blur, and Van Halen.
Jason Freese
Touring keyboardist, Gutterflower tour
Jason is the younger brother of Vandals drummer Josh Freese. He played the saxophone and piano on Josh's 2000 solo album The Notorious One Man Orgy, and also played the sax on two Vandals albums, 1996's Christmas with the Vandals: Oi to the World and 1998's Hitler Bad, Vandals Good. He handled the saxophone, keyboards and some vocals for the Antix (pictured; Jason is second from the left) and played keyboards in both GanFu and Transmission OK, a Los Angeles outfit who released their debut album, The Sky, the Stars and the Great Beyond in 2000. Jason has toured with Joe Walsh (Eagles), recorded with Devo and Dr. Dre, performed with Smokey Robinson and Wilson Phillips, and appeared in The Beat Goes On: The Sonny & Cher Story. He has also contributed to several albums, including keyboards and wurlitzer on Dweezil Zappa's Automatic (2000), saxophone on Weezer’s Make Believe (2005), and saxophone on Spoon’s Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga (2007). Jason toured with Green Day on the tours supporting American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown.
Nathan December
Touring guitarist, Dizzy Up the Girl tour
Nathan played with Mike and Brian Baker (Minor Threat) in the band Careless in the early ‘90s. When Careless broke up, Nathan toured with R.E.M. on their Monster tour, and later joined the Goos on some appearances for “Name” and then the Dizzy Up the Girl tour. Nathan now works in film and TV as an electrician and lighting technician. He was part of the crew for Iron Man and HBO’s Big Love. Nathan’s other Hollywood credits include appearing as a guitarist in the 1994 movie Reality Bites. Nathan is second from the left in the picture above.
Dave Schulz
Touring keyboardist, Dizzy Up the Girl tour
Dave grew up in Buffalo, the son of the conductor of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra. He started playing piano at age 10. Dave later moved to Los Angeles and has since performed with Bo Diddley and the English Beat. In 2009 he released his debut album, Connect. Dave also somewhat infamously appeared on HBO’s Taxicab Confessions, which the Goos later spoofed in the “Sympathy” video.
