I received my Ph.D. in Economics from the Quantitative Economic Doctorate at the Universidad de Alicante, 1998. I graduated in Economics at the Universidad Pública de Navarra, 1993.

My research areas are Public Choice, Political Economics and Public Economics. I am particularly interested in the analysis of political parties' competition, elections and public sector policy making (see a recent interview).

My research is published in refereed journals such as Electoral Studies, European Journal of Political Economy, Journal of Theoretical Politics, Public Choice, Social Choice and Welfare, Regional Science and Urban Economics, Journal of Public Economic Theory and Theory and Decision among others.

I have benefited from several visiting appointments and I am very grateful to those professors that have invited me to their institutions for short-term stays. Professors James Snyder and Stephen Ansolabehere to Harvard University (2012) and (2018), Professor William Thomson to University of Rochester (2009) and Professor François Maniquet to Université Catholique de Louvain CORE (2007) among others.

I have taught undergraduate courses at the Universidad de Alicante, Universidad de Granada and Universidad de Málaga on Microeconomics, Game Theory, Welfare Economics, and Industrial Organization among other topics. I am currently teaching Political Analysis at the M.A. on Economics and Bussiness Analysis, and Advanced Microeconomics to undergraduate students at the Universidad de Málaga.
